We are an ethical and sustainable eco-tourism project located approximately 60km from the city of Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand. Founded in July 2014, it is a joint initiative between members of the Karen hill-tribes and Chiang Mai locals who were concerned about the welfare of elephants in Thailand.
Elephant Jungle Sanctuary is a project that has set up ethical sanctuaries in Thailand. We have three nature parks in Thailand, they are near Chiang Mai, Pattaya Phuket, and Samui. Visitors to the sanctuary will be able to feed, bathe and play with the animals on their visit. It is also important to us that visitors learn as much as possible about these animals and why it is important to protect them. With the money we raise from visits and donations, we can rescue the animals, feed them, provide veterinary care as well as land and infrastructure for them to live on. Elephant welfare is very important to us and it is one of our main goals.
You can also bring a camera with you but if you’re worried about taking photos with the elephants you need not worry. We offer a photography service at no extra charge. The photographer will take photos of you throughout the day and upload the photos to Dropbox, which you can then access through the link on the EJS Facebook page.
Our first elephant conservation center in Thailand was founded in July 2014 near Chiang Mai. It is a joint initiative between members of the Karen hill-tribes and Chiang Mai locals who were concerned about the welfare of elephants in Thailand. We offer Half Day, Full Day, and overnight stay options when you visit our sanctuary.
Visit the Elephant Jungle Sanctuary Phuket, the first and best ever operational ethical sanctuary in Phuket province. This sanctuary is in a picturesque area of Phuket with stunning views of mountains, jungle, and beaches. Go swimming with the animals, a memory that you will never forget!
Play with these magnificent animals in Thailand at our Pattaya Sanctuary. Elephant Jungle Sanctuary Pattaya has our Half Day and Full Day visits as well as our facility to turn elephant poop into paper. Learn more about our sustainable paper when you come to visit us.
Do Not Ride Elephants: the spines of these animals are not the same as horses or humans. The spine of the elephant does not have rounded discs or plates along it, but these bones have a more protruding shape that extends out from the spine. These protrusions cannot bear heavy loads and later in the animal’s life, these discs begin to degenerate and deform. Please do not ride these animals or support a nature park in Thailand that encourages riding them. The welfare and health of these animals is very important to us and the people of Thailand.
If you enjoyed your time at Elephant Jungle Sanctuary, please ensure that your friends know exactly how to find us.
Due to the unfortunate circumstances created by the COVID-19 pandemic, both people and animals, including elephants are suffering from a lack of resources. All elephant camps in Thailand, including Elephant Jungle Sanctuary, have been forced to close due to the outbreak of the virus, and we must rely more than ever on external help. The support of generous donors allows us to purchase food, dietary supplements, and veterinary supplies for our elephants, and the provision of these are currently our highest priority. - We have 97 elephants in our care. - Our largest expenses are elephant food, dietary supplements, and veterinary medicine. - COVID-19 has diminished our ability to provide a sufficient amount of these vital supplies to the elephants in our care. - We need help from previous visitors and other individuals who love elephants to continue to provide our gentle giants with the happiness and care they deserve.
