Asian elephants defecate 12-20 times a day. In a motion, 5-8 lump a time and each lump weighs about 1 kg.
A normal specimen of Elephant feces should be well-formed and moist. Hard feces might indicate impaction or dehydration. Another way to assess the hydration status of an elephant is to apply pressure on the feces. If liquid content comes out of the feces, it is safe to assume that the elephant is in a good hydration status.
