The Elephant Jungle Sanctuary also provides year-round employment for all our staff. Lodging and employment and food for our mahouts. 10% of donations are also being donated to our mahouts and their communities for development.
The Care Project is a non-profit subsidiary of The Elephant Jungle Sanctuary. Our aim is to re-educate local elephant owners on ideal elephant care while supporting the local community. We believe that by empowering and enriching their lives, it will motivate them to have better elephant practices that will directly contribute to the conservation of the Asian Elephants in Thailand.
Community Involvement has always been the backbone of The Care Project Foundation. Over the years, we have operated on the mentality that “YOU CANNOT AFFECT CHANGE THROUGH SHAME.” This is why we believe that empowering the lives of people in communities that are surrounded around domestic elephants is so so crucial.
The Care Project under the direction of The Elephant Jungle Sanctuary has been involved in community clean-up, infrastructure building and most importantly, Mahout education.
